We met at a Monkees convention in 1986 and have remained friends ever since. She will be visiting me this summer!

Rare Twilight Poster Contest #4

by admin

After our look-alike contest, our drawing contest, and our haiku contest, we have come up with one more contest to give away one last poster.

All you have to do is answer the question:

Who is your favorite character in the entire “Twilight” saga and why?

To answer and enter for your chance to win, go to the contest form.

Provide your answer in 100 words or less. Answers that exceed the word limit may be disqualified. You’ll be asked to provide your name and your email address, too. Since you’re participating in a “Twilight” contest, we think you’ll want to be added to our Twihard mailing list, if you’re not on it already. When we add you to our mailing list, you’ll get a welcome email. Want to keep receiving updates about the series and notices about fun contests? Then just sit back and wait for the emails to come rolling in. Not interested in being on our mailing list? Go to the bottom of your welcome email and click the link to unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time, and we’ll never sell your information.

Contest ends at 11:59 PM Pacific on December 14, 2009. One winner will be chosen at random from all qualified entries and announced here on December 15, 2009.

These posters are only for the TRULY obsessed “Twilight” fan.

But didn’t you have 5 posters to give away?

Yes! As many of you suggested when we were first looking for contest ideas for these rare posters, the 5th and final poster has been donated to help raise money for the Oregon Food Bank.

Don’t forget, in order to have a chance to win, you must fill out the contest form.

WE HAVE A WINNER for our Twilight Look-Alike Contest!

by admin

Congratulations to Jazzy for being voted the winner!

Jazzy as Jane

Thank you to everyone who entered, and thanks for all of your patience as we awaited the results of the vote.

We still have a couple of signed posters remaining, as well as some other goodies we can begin to give away once the posters are gone. But we need your help! Do you have any contest ideas? Let us know in the comments below!

Here is some criteria to think about when suggesting our next contest:

  • It should be something that everyone in the world can participate in, by submitting their entries electronically via email.
  • It shouldn’t take us a million years to judge, if we happen to receive hundreds or even thousands of entries. Hence our earlier contests. Haikus are short and fun to read, and it doesn’t take us long to look through scanned drawings and photos. (We simply don’t have the woman-hours to judge something like a fanfic contest.)

Thanks everyone!

Thanks to the hundreds of “Twilight” fans who entered our Look-Alike Contest to win a rare movie poster signed by local members of the cast! The submission period is now closed. Stay tuned to The Casting Scoop!

WHAT’S NEXT?

We still have a couple of posters to give away. Do you have more contest ideas for us? Sound off in the comments section! We’ve done a Haiku Contest, a Drawing Contest, and now our Look-Alike Contest.

We’re open to your suggestions!

Rare Twilight Poster Contest #3

by admin

We’ve had some great responses for our Haiku Contest and our Drawing Contest. We hope the winners of the first two contests are enjoying their rare posters signed only by members of the local Twilight cast. We still have posters left, so here comes another contest!

Do you bear an uncanny resemblance to a Twilight character?

Send us your best Twilight look-alike photo!

Email your photo to twihard[at]slateplease[dot]com by October 1st, 2009.

Be sure to follow these guidelines:

  • Include your first name, age (required for minors), and where on the planet you live (City, State/Province and Country are sufficient) in the body of your email. Anyone, anywhere in the world can participate!
  • Your entry must be emailed to us in a file size no larger than 2MB. Please do not mail hard copies of photos or send links to photos. If it’s not attached to an email, it’s not eligible. Hard copy entries will not be considered or returned.
  • One entry per person. If you send multiple entries, only the first will be considered. If there are multiple entrants in a photo, only one poster will be awarded.
  • Contest ends at 11:59 PM on October 1st, 2009. Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Please keep photos appropriate for an “all ages” audience.
  • Photos must be of you and original. Images of your face superimposed on a “Twilight” actor’s body are not eligible.

We look forward to seeing your best Twilight looks!

Tell your friends!

Another actor wins a free career consultation!

by admin

We have another winner in our ongoing actor career consultation contest:

It’s Rowan W.!

Rowan is a 20-year-old actor living in Australia. He writes:

“I’ve decided I have two options in life — to do what I love and get paid for it, or do what I love and not get paid for it. These are my only two career options. I am not pursuing fame or fortune, I simply want to practice an art form that is always creative, challenging and giving. I’d like to know more about how the American film industry works, and how to make contact with the right people, and what I need to do to move forward.”

We’ll be scheduling Rowan’s FREE one-hour career consultation with Lana Veenker in the coming weeks.

We have made this an ongoing contest for all new subscribers to our newsletter.

NEW SUBSCRIBERS

If you haven’t yet subscribed to our mailing list (in the top right sidebar of this page), be sure to do so. You’ll receive instructions on how to complete the survey in your Welcome email.

By surveying our mailing list, we’re able to tailor our materials to your needs, to make sure we’re providing exactly the kind of information you want. It also helps us plan where to hold workshops and we’ll notify you if one is taking place in your area.

PREVIOUS CONTESTANTS

Even more exciting news is that those who previously submitted surveys will remain in the running for the contest, so there’s no need to complete the survey more than once. You’re still in consideration.

EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS WHO HAVE *NOT* COMPLETED A SURVEY

If you’re a subscriber, but didn’t complete a survey when they were first announced, no worries. Just shoot us an email at tools4actors[at]slateplease[dot]com with “Existing Subscriber Survey” in the subject line and we’ll send you instructions on how to complete the survey and be entered into the contest as well.

Once again, congrats to Rowan!

Rare Twilight Poster Contest #1

by admin

OK, we have gone through all your great ideas for our rare Twilight poster contest and narrowed them down to five.

We have chosen ones that fans everywhere can participate in and that are concise enough that I will hopefully have time to adjudicate (you know…in between running a casting company, teaching workshops and writing my book!). We will also be donating a few to charities.

So, without further ado…

The first contest is designed to test your creative writing abilities:

Send us your best Twilight-inspired Haiku!

If you don’t know what a haiku poem is, read up on the rules here.

Here’s a sample one to get your wheels turning:

Misty forest rain
Branches snapping underfoot
Moonlight frozen fear

Email your haiku to twihard[at]slateplease[dot]com by June 5th, 2009!

Please be sure to include your name, age and where on the planet you live (City, State or Province, and Country are sufficient).

Multiple entries are acceptable, but they should be submitted in the body of ONE email only.

The haiku can be inspired by any of the books in the “Twilight” series. Thanks.

Let’s see how many different countries can participate!!

Spread the word!

Only for the TRULY obsessed "Twilight" fan

by admin

UPDATE: Wow, thanks everyone for the fabulous ideas! Check out this post for the first contest.

Check this post for the second contest.

You’d need to be a real die-hard Twihard to want to participate in this…but I know you’re out there en masse, so here goes:

What should I do with five rare “Twilight” posters signed by the local cast only?

They were obtained at the Twilight DVD Release party in March and include signatures from Solomon Trimble and Krys Rupard (of the Quileute tribe), Ayanna Berkshire (Cora), Trish Egan (High School Administrator), the Frat Boys, Catherine Grimme (Young Bella) and others.

Maybe a contest?

Which of you Twihards can come up with the best idea?

Post yours in the comments and spread the word!

We’ll read everyone’s suggestions and announce what the contest is in a few days.
