Introducing "Leverage" Thug Boot Camp, Feb 6-7

Calling all athletic, muscular and burly men!

We are holding a special weekend intensive workshop for cop, security guard and bad-guy types who are interested in learning basic acting and stunt techniques:

The idea is to train men who physically suit these types of roles to be able to perform a few lines of dialogue and some simple fight scenes.

Leverage,” the hit TV series, will tape 15 more episodes in Portland starting in March. The show, which airs Wednesday nights on TNT, employed over 120 local actors and more than 800 local background artists last season.

This has created a need to train up a new generation of actors and stunt people–particularly to play cops, security guards and thugs–in order for us to keep the jobs LOCAL.

Martial arts and military backgrounds are in high demand on the show, as well as ethnic diversity. Height is not important (in fact, in some cases, shorter men are at an advantage), but an athletic, burly or muscular frame is. Those who fit these specs may find Thug Boot Camp particularly beneficial.

Thug Boot Camp is not a job interview or audition. The presence of a casting director is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment. The intent of the workshop is solely educational. Attending a workshop is not a way to obtain employment as an actor; it is simply one of the training opportunities at your disposal.

Such contact as you may have with a casting director at a workshop does not guarantee any further contact with that casting director or any company affiliated with that casting director.

If you fit the specs described above and think you might want to learn some basic acting and stunt techniques useful for any kind of on-camera production, Thug Boot Camp is a great way to get a jump start. Ongoing training is still the key, but this weekend intensive will arm you with the knowledge, tools and networking opportunities to start forging your path.

Thug Boot Camp will sell out quickly, so if you’re thinking about signing up, do so soon!
